Established in 1977, Box & Charnock is a longstanding business specialising in the design and delivery of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Heating services across various sectors of the Construction industry including various types of residential buildings, education, commercial and industrial buildings.

Since our inception our ethos has been to maintain strong relationships across a diverse client base, through consistently offering operational excellence. We endeavour to stay at the forefront of industry best practice, and we’re proud to hold multiple accreditations which demonstrate this, including Constructionline Gold, ISO9001 and ISO14001. We also hold a range of Health & Safety accreditations and we’re committed to maintaining our exemplary safety track record.

Box & Charnock commence trading

Box & Charnock was formed in 1977 by Chris Box and Alan Charnock, starting from a small office in Bedford carrying out a variety of Plumbing & Heating Installations.

New Build Housing for Wimpey Homes

In 1982, the company is awarded its first large housing contract, and following Alan Charnock’s departure from the business, Jason Benson leaves school and joins Box & Charnock as an apprentice plumbing and heating engineer.

New Directors

Steve Box joins the business after leaving school in 1985. The business continues to grow with an expanding client base and in 1994 Chris appoints Steve and Jason as Company Directors.

Client Expansion

By 1999, Box & Charnock have further expanded their client base to include national house building companies such as Persimmon Homes, Bovis Homes, Redrow Homes, Barratt Homes and more; now working across Beds, Herts, Bucks, Northants and North London.

Electrical Contracting Commences

In 2009, Chris Box fully retires, and Jason Benson and Steve Box become the sole owners, while the business also expands into Electrical Contracting.

Growing range of sectors

With further expansion the business moves into it's current larger premises and creates two distinctive divisional teams. One division delivering residential and retirement living developments across the Home Counties & East Midlands, and the other specialising in the delivery of larger Inner-City developments including residential, retirement, education, care, retail and hotels.

Trading Milestone

The business celebrates 40 years trading and is successfully delivering MEPH Projects of a high value across the London Boroughs and Home Counties.

Present Day

Today, the business maintains the same successful approach and vision under the same ownership, whom along with members of its team both new and old remain passionate about delivering a quality product to all clients.

Operating Area

We have structured our manpower to successfully deliver various sized schemes across our logistical operating area which covers London, the south Midlands and the northern home counties.
