Design
Our Services
The key to effective mechanical and electrical design is understanding the needs of the people who will occupy a building. Our design team begin every project by examining how the space should look at the handover stage and they are guided by this perspective throughout.
Building Information Modelling (BIM) systems allow us to create detailed representations of the systems we design long before the work gets underway, so our in-house experts can overcome the unique challenges of a project early, preventing costly delays and unexpected problems.
We offer our clients design capability from inception through the RIBA Stages from initial design inception, ensuring the criteria of the latest Building Safety Act is met.
We can bring our unparalleled practical experience to the design phase, because each of Box and Charnock’s designers has experience as an installation engineer. This means we can assess the needs of a building, understand how to install what is required, then factor those requirements into the BIM design phase.
Members of our design team have achieved BRE accreditation to ensure we can provide the highest standard of service through the BIM process. The result is a realistic, thoughtful design that identifies the potential challenges of each project and reduces risk throughout the installation.
Validation and Prefabrication
The Finer Details
The technical design phase is an opportunity to review engineering plans and our practical expertise gives us the insight to validate existing designs. Our team prides itself on identifying better ways of doing things, so we will often offer suggestions to improve efficiency and engineering.
Once our designs are finalised, the level of detail created through BIM allows us to prefabricate equipment and components off-site. This process means we can carry out much of the manual labour in advance, reducing risk and the number of people required for the installation itself. Other benefits of prefabrication include:
- Concepts that are tested and proven in advance
- Reduced possibility of on-site delays
- Lower material costs
- Less construction waste
- Reduced risk levels throughout the process
